Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is a surgical procedure that aims at improving the appearance of the abdomen through removing the excess fat and skin and through tightening the muscles in the abdominal wall.
Tummy tuck can remove stretch marks in the belly area. It is suitable for men and women, especially those who are obese, also women who had several pregnancies. It gives the abdomen more toned and slimmed effect.
There are two main types of abdominoplasty:
Complete abdominoplasty: Where the surgeon cuts the abdomen from hipbone to the other hipbone and then contours the skin and muscles as required. This surgery requires belly button movement. Also, drainage tubes maybe applied under the skin for several days.
Partial/mini abdominoplasty: are done to people whose fat deposits are below the navel. This process does not require belly button movement and it does not take much time as the complete abdominoplasty.
